Five Star is a 1992 41' Tartan racer/cruiser sailboat owned and captained by Ed Woolsey. Five Star was purchased back in 2017 and completely re-outfitted by Ed personally from top-to-bottom. The boat was fully stripped down to it's hull and restored back to her original classic pristine.
Five Star can hold up to 8 people comfortably and is ideal for small group sailing charters. She's a spacious and well maintained racer/cruiser with all the modern amenities. Down below you'll find she's equipped with two separate sleeping berths, a full dining saloon, kitchen galley, chart station, private head (bathroom), refrigerator, iceboxes, air-conditioning, wifi, television, bluetooth radio, and plenty of storage space.
Aside from being a USCG licensed charter boat "Five Star" also races in various spinnaker regattas throughout the season.
Edward "Ed" Woolsey
An avid sailboat racer and cruiser, Ed began sailing in 1976. Most of Ed's sail time has been in Eastchester Bay, Long Island Sound, and the New York Harbor. Over the years he has owned several boats including a Frers 33, a J-80, an Erickson 38, a Tartan 35, and his current Tartan 41 "Five Star".
He is a USCG Captain 100-ton master, and 200-ton mate of towing. Ed also has the following American Sailing Association teaching certifications: keelboat, basic and advanced coastal cruising, bareboat chartering, coastal navigation, docking and boat handling.
